Local Mail Delivery
Panama does not have a mail delivery service - yes that's right, there is no public mail delivery in Panama. Some expatriates, myself included, use private services with post office boxes and a forwarding service in Miami.
The utility companies use their own people to deliver bills to customers' homes. We have not constructed a mailbox yet so our bills just get stuck into the front gate, as you see here. If it rains I lay the bills out on the kitchen counter to dry.
I've seen some local mailboxes made of brick, and others that are simply a large PVC pipe, sealed on one end and slotted on the other. Maybe I'll do a photo review of El Valle mailboxes someday.
